The charity concert presented the repertoire of sacred traditional Armenian chants of composer Komitas, interpreted by a men’s choir. Musicologist and anthropologist Reverend Father Komitas (1869-1935) collected traditional songs from Armenian peasants, safeguarding, transcribing and arranging them in polyphony.
The concert boasted the extraordinary participation of Gagik Muradyan who interpreted traditional songs on the kamantcha in monodic style, as troubadours used to in the Armenian Middle Ages.
Last but not least, opera singer Arnaud Khatcherian interpreted sacred and folk songs, and presented the world premiere of a contemporary creation (2017) on a poem from saint Gregory of Narek.
